There are variety of reasons for going Vegan or Vegetarian, but the popular main reasons are health benefits, animal welfare, and environment concerns.
- Health – A vegan diet can help with weight loss, reduce the risk of heart disease, and lower the chances of getting certain types of cancer. Plant-based diets are rich in fiber, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, and tend to be lower in unhealthy saturated fat and cholesterol.
- Animal Welfare – Many vegans are concerned about the cruelty of factory farming, including the slaughtering of animals for meat and the short, miserable lives of egg-laying chickens and dairy cows. Farm animals are often confined, transported in trucks with little room and no food or water, and can die from overheating or dehydration.
- Environmental concerns – A plant-based diet can help reduce the environmental impact of animal agriculture.
