Independent Living Skills

GLAD helps deaf, hard of hearing, deafblind, and deaf disabled consumers develop skills to live independently. Independence means not relying on public institutions and programs. GLAD can teach consumers about money management, time management, shopping, assistive technology, transportation, housing, cooking, and more.

Workshops

GLAD host workshops in American Sign Language at the Deaf Community Center. Consumers are able to attend them in person or watch them online.

Independent Living Assistance

Consumers who want to live independently can make an appointment with one of GLAD’s Community Advocates. The Community Advocate will provide resources to the consumer and make sure they understand them.

Assistive Technology

GLAD’s Community Advocates can  show consumers how to use technology to live independently and apply for free equipment. Consumers can also use the equipment in GLAD’s Visual Communication Center for free during business hours.
