Palisades Fire Update 1/9 9:30 a.m.
No major change overnight in fire impact to Santa Monica. Evacuation orders and warnings remain unchanged.
We will continue to work with the Palisades Fire Command Team to take all actions needed to ensure the safety of our community.
🚨 Santa Monica has issued an emergency order instituting a nighttime curfew from sunset to sunrise in the areas where a mandatory evacuation order is in effect to support law enforcement efforts in these zones.
🚔
Increased police presence remains in evacuation zones, please stay out of the area and listen to direction from law enforcement.
🌬️ Smoke from all regional fires is impacting Santa Monica air quality. Take precautions to protect yourself and sensitive family members or pets.
Winds have lessened today but dry, red flag fire conditions remain. Please remain alert and take precautions to prepare.
🚫 Closures today include all SMMUSD schools, SMC campus, Pier Carousel and many city programs and facilities. Check our website for the latest information.
🏢 Santa Monica continues to coordinate with local and regional partners on the fire response, including working with local businesses and hotels.
🤝 We continue to see an outpouring of generosity and desire to help those impacted. Initial community donation asks are listed on our website, and we know there will be an even greater need as we move into recovery in the coming days and weeks.
❤️ Thanks to all for their patience and cooperation and messages of support for first responders during this emergency.
We will continue to provide updates here and at santamonica.gov throughout the day.
