Staff Interpreter – Los Angeles

Under the supervision of the CEO, the Staff Interpreter will interpret assignments as delegated by the Interpreter Referral Specialists  for assignments that can range from routine medical appointments, staff meetings at large companies, formal speeches (platform interpreting), press conferences or any other situation that requires communication access. Assignments will depend on level of interpreting skills, record statistics on a monthly basis related to provision of service, in-house tasks such as answering phones and providing information and referral to general public as needed, assist Interpreter Referral Specialists with filling assignments as needed, perform other duties assigned by the Director of LIFESIGNS and/or the CEO.



Applicants must possess assessment of one of the following:

· Level 4 or 5 NIC, NIC Advance, or NIC Master Level Interpreter Certificate

· American Consortium of Certified Interpreters (ACCI)

· National Association of the Deaf (NAD)

· Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) equivalent is required

· EIPA 4+ with continuing training CEU credits

In order to be considered for this position, applicants must be:

· Able to possess the ability to function in a team environment and team interpreting situations

· Able to maintain flexibility with scheduling should assignments occur beyond office hours

· A flexible self-starter and a resourceful team player

· Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and have excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Capable of maintaining a cooperative relationship with co-employees, directors, employers, community members, other agencies and the Chief Executive Officer

· Able to adhere to the Interpreter’s Code of Professional Conduct

· Punctual and reliable as required

· Involved with the deaf community as desirable

· Able to perform such tasks and responsibilities as may be assigned

Must have a valid Driver’s License and current automobile insurance as required by law and reliable means of transportation.
